HUNTINGTON - New Marshall head football coach Doc Holliday and his staff are continuing their plundering of BCS-recruited student-athletes from the South, picking up a new recruit on Monday from South Carolina to go with a Georgia verbal on Sunday along with three more from Florida.
Marshall now has 20 verbals for National Signing Day on Feb. 3, 2010.
Committing to the Herd on Monday was Jazz King, a 5-foot-10.5, 175-pound receiver from James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C. King runs a 4.45 40 who caught 61 passes over the last two seasons for over 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns. King also has a 3.8 grade point average and liked the fact that Marshall's graduation rate has been honored over and over the the AFCA.
Also recruiting King were Kansas of the Big 12, Ole Miss of the SEC, Illinois of the Big Ten, North Carolina of the ACC and Conference USA schools UCF and Tulane.
In high school, he was a freshman on the Byrnes team with senior Willy Korn, the Clemson quarterback who may sign with the Herd and have two years to play in graduate school.

On Sunday, Marshall picked up verbals from three other players after getting quarterback Eddie Sullivan onboard before this past weekend's recruiting visits.
First up was Garrett Scott, a 6-foot-4, 270-pound lineman from Coffee County H.S. in Georgia. Scott chose MU over Troy and Arkansas State of the Sun Belt, Jackson State and UAB of C-USA.
Two Florida verbals gives the Herd eight players out of the Sunshine State. Defensive tackle Matt Fleurizard is 6-foot-4, 285-pounds out of Dwyer H.S., who was All-Palm Beach County for 2009 when he had 50 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and 11 sacks.
Fleurizard has a 3.1 GPA and chose MU over Eastern Michigan of the Mid-American Conference, Iowa State of the Big 12 and a host of FCS (I-AA) schools.
Joe Johnson is a defensive safety from New Smyrna Beach who is 5-foot-11, 175-pounds and had 85 tackles along with six interceptions and 16 passes broken up.
South Florida of the Big East, Western Michigan of the MAC and Tennessee State of the Ohio Valley Conference all offered Johnson.
Here are all the signees to date. Linebacker Trevor Black (Hargrave Military Academy) and tight end James Powers (Myrtle Beach, S.C., H.S.) have both already enrolled at Marshall, while Raheem Waiters, a receiver who injured his ACL during his senior season at Riverside High School in Quincy, W.Va. (the same area that produced NFL All-Pro receiver and former Herd great Randy Moss) will enroll at MU in January of 2011 as a "gray-shirt." He will get an extra spring and still have five years to play four as he rehabs his knee this summer.
